About

Vaulted Deep has developed a novel approach to permanent carbon storage: collecting high-moisture organic biomass — agricultural residues, food processing waste, manure, and other organic materials — that would otherwise decompose and release their stored carbon as CO₂ and methane. Instead of allowing this decomposition, Vaulted Deep dehydrates and processes the biomass, then injects it deep into permanently sealed geological formations beneath Texas and Kansas.

The key insight behind Vaulted Deep is that decomposition is the enemy of permanent carbon storage. By physically removing organic matter from the biological carbon cycle and placing it in geologically stable formations that have held fluids for millions of years, the approach achieves carbon storage durability that biological methods — forests, soils, wetlands — simply cannot match. The carbon is effectively removed from the atmosphere indefinitely.

Vaulted Deep's model is also distinctively cost-effective: by treating the injection of organic waste as a waste disposal service rather than purely a carbon removal business, the company can offer carbon removal at lower cost than many competing technologies. As organic waste disposal regulations tighten and the value of permanent carbon removal rises, Vaulted Deep is positioned to scale rapidly across the vast agricultural hinterlands of the United States.
