About Lovekept

Lovekept is an independent online memorial platform based in the United States. A family gets a memorial page for the obituary, the photographs, a guestbook and the service details, free to build and free to keep online, with no advertising on it, and up to five people can run one memorial together. Around the page sit an obituary writer, sympathy flowers, memorial fundraisers and a memorial tree, which Lovekept calls “one add-on among several, never the reason the page exists”.

The planting runs on 1ClickImpact. Each tree goes to one of six projects, and the family’s certificate names the site and the partner once the trees are assigned.

Why they added impact

Lovekept exists because its founder, Abdullah Nabeel, lost someone and went looking for a good way to hold onto their story. What was on offer was cluttered, wrapped in ads, or charged a monthly fee just to keep a memory online, so Nabeel built the memorial that had been missing.

Lovekept chose 1ClickImpact so a family can see proof that the tree was planted. The planting site, the partner and each stage, from dedicated to planted, show on the family’s own tree page, and the same trees are itemised by project and country on Lovekept’s public profile.

Lovekept funds trees only. For a family, one tree is simple to explain and simple to check later. Packages run from a single tree to a grove of 100, with a monthly tribute as an option.

Four of the six projects are run by Trees for the Future: forest gardens in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, plus Great Green Wall agroforestry in Senegal. The other two are Planting on Demand in Sierra Leone and the Think Good Foundation’s Kesar mango program in India. The species planted are native to each region.
